Alone

Well, Angela and the kids are in Wichita and I am in Granite City.  I thought it would be nice and relaxing if Angela and the kids stayed with her parents.  They don't get to see them that much, and Angela's dad turned eighty this week.  I had to come back to Granite City to take care of my responsibilities as the pastor of the church.  Christmas is a very important time for our congregation, and I wanted to let them know how much we love and appreciate them.  I will be going back to Wichita on Christmas day.  Hopefully the weather will cooperate.  This is the first time I've been separated from my family.  It is harder that I thought.  I miss them very much.

A Special Time

Well, Christmas is near.  I must admit it is my favorite time of year.  I also need to admit that this year, Christmas time has been a little bit more stressful.  But, what makes it all alright is being around my family.  I was thinking about the time in my life that I was single, no family around.  It was a lonely time.  Even during the most difficult times of life, holding my youngest son, Matthew, or letting the older children pounce on me, makes everything seem better.  I am richly blessed to have a loving and supportive wife, and four beautiful children.  This is indeed a special time.

Glory to God in the Highest

No matter what we face in life, God is to be praised.  No matter what circumstances we find ourselves, God is incredible.  Sometimes I don't understand what God is doing--what He is doing in my life.  But, whether I find myself on the mountaintop or the valley, I desire more than anything to honor and glorify God.  I am thankful for His grace and mercy.  I will remember this Christmas season as a time that, no matter what I face in life, I will worship and live for Him.

Better Late than Never

Ok....Ok....I promised pictures of putting up my Christmas Lights.  I have to admit the last three weeks have been very busy.  But, I did get the lights up.  So here are the pictures:

The Lights Go Up

Well, it is that time of year - the Walker Christmas traditions are in full swing.  The tree, lights, music - all providing a festive atmosphere.  This kids are enjoying it - the parents are tired!  In fact, with all the busy things this season, I am running a bit behind - much to the amusement of my church congregation.  I was suppose to get the outside lights up on Monday - but it didn't happen.  Then I found out that several people in the church were "betting" that I would not get the lights up in time.  I think I need to preach on gambling.  Well, my plan is to get the lights up and place the Manger scene today - before I go to church tonight.  I'll get a picture on the blog tomorrow.  See you then!
